If you are planning to write the WAEC GCE exam in early 2026, WAEC GCE, also known as WASSCE for Private Candidates 1st Series, registration has already started, and many candidates are registering. so make sure you join them immediately.
Registration Date
Registration for WAEC GCE First Series 2026 started in late December 2025.
Normal registration closes: Friday, January 30, 2026 (11:59 PM)
Please do not wait till the last day to register. Network issues and full centers can cause problems.
Walk‑In Candidates
If you miss the normal deadline, you can still register as a Walk‑In Candidate up to 24 hours before your paper, but the fee is higher (about ₦45,000).
Cost of Registration
- Registration fee: ₦27,000 (for up to 9 subjects)
- Bank or agent commission: ₦500
Total: About ₦27,500
The fee is not refundable, so be sure before you pay.
How To Register Step by Step
Step 1: Buy Registration PIN
You can purchase the registration PIN from banks such as GTBank, Access Bank, Zenith Bank, UBA, First Bank, and other commercial banks, WAEC offices, accredited agents or cyber cafés, or online platforms like PalmPay, Paga, and Interswitch.
Step 2: Visit the Official Website
Go to http://www.waeconline.org.ng.
Step 3: Create Account and Fill the Form
Create an account and enter your correct details, including full name, date of birth, gender, phone number, and email address. Make sure all information is accurate and matches your official documents.
Step 4: Biometric Capture
Visit an approved biometric center for fingerprint capture and passport photograph. Your passport photograph must be clear and neat, as poor-quality pictures can lead to cancellation of registration.
Step 5: Choose Subjects
Select a minimum of 8 subjects and a maximum of 9 subjects, based on your examination requirements.
Step 6: Submit and Print Photo Card
After submitting your registration, print your Admission Notice (Photo Card). This document is mandatory and must be brought to the exam hall.
The 2026 First Series is using CBT (Computer-Based Test) for the first time. Objective (multiple choice) questions: Fully on computer. Essay and practical questions: Hybrid questions are on screen, but you write answers in answer booklets.
